Recommend a Spotting Scope Please

Hi all. What are the better sub $500 scopes? I only 'need' to sight in hunting rifles at 100 yards, but it would be nice to see .223 out to 200. Is this possible?

Burris and Pentax make great optics and are not too pricey

Sure, it's possible. Depending on your target. A black hole against a black target is hard to see. I go by the local high school at the end of the season and get as many of their schedule posters as I can. That shiny paper (the back is pure white) with a small aiming dot works great. I can get four or five aiming dots on that poster, and when I look at it through the scope, it's easy to see.

Believe it or not, my go-to spotting scope (for 100-200 yards) is the Bushnell Sportview 20X60. Yeah, yeah, I know, cheap Bushnell, but when I go to the range, it's normally the Bushnell that gets the nod. My wife bought it for me several years ago as a Christmas present, and I use it constantly.
