Ultimak on a mini 14 - anybody?

Thinking about an Ultimak M4S rail for optics mounting on my 580 series Ranch Rifle. Replaces the top of the gas block and attaches to the barrel. Gonna mount a red dot. Anybody have experience with this? I also want to mount a Mo-Rad and attach a bipod to that. Thoughts on accuracy? - Thanks

I wouldn't use the bipod directly to any barrel parts.... It will influence accuracy, try for a stock mounted bipod.

Depending on barrel profile, you may not need a mo-rod. 581 mini is helped by a muzzle brake it seems

I have one on my 181 series Mini-14 with a 30mm Ultradot. Works great.

I think the Ultimak looks better than the Amega because it has a large gap where it mates to the stock and looks too blocky. The Ultimak has better lines and looks more flowing.

I'd mount a sling swivel stud to the stock forearm for your bipod mount like I did.

Mine is a Hogue overmolded. You can put it on a synthetic. You would need to remove the liner and install underneath.

Here's a TUTORIAL

Downsizing photos

Hey RickyRick, would you please downsize your photos before posting? It obviously messes with the page, thanks.
