Re: What to do with this dent?

Send me the green grip and I'll send you a spiffy black one sans dents...

I know I can buy a replacement grip from Kel Tec, but I am not in the US and can not import guns or accesories.

After reading all your comments I think that trying to fix it is kinda risky, so I'm telling my friend to better leave it alone.

Thank you for your good help

Not 100% sure, but I believe the green isn't green all the way though as well so filling stuff off would probably end not so well...

You may not be able to but the gun shops can. Give the shop where your buddy got it from a call, explain what happened and tell them you will cover shipping fees and toss them a few bucks for their trouble. No reason why they cant accept firearm accessories when they have actual firearms shipped there.

If that was the case you would be able to see the underlying color where the dent is. Every colored polymer frame I have seen, or plastic anything, was never painted but molded completely in that color.

I would never have caught it either had i not followed LEE n. Field's link. Funny how one little detail really changes things...lol

Heck I was assuming the lower/frame/grip would have cost more and saw no need to research price.

I guess when playing baseball we should cover all the bases

(i left one open but don't tell anyone)

Well, they cannot - shops cannot import/buy/sell, civilians cannot either

How do the shops get their guns then?

They don't. Shops are practically out of business - they survive by selling accesories they had in inventory and some they import legally, and who knows what else they do .... while they wait for better times...

Man that's depressing.. and I complain because I live in a state in the U.S. that banned magazines over 10 rounds. If you don't mind me asking what country is it that you live in?

I'd leave it alone, it's not like it's a Python or something.

Or, using a soldering iron, try to fix it -- and be prepared to buy a replacement cover [which your gunsmith or dealer can do for you].

(That's what you're talking about -- a plastic cover for the aluminum frame. Change colors, while you're at it, if you want something different.)

It's obvious this gun is ruined. You should send it to me for proper disposal and go buy your friend a new one.

SR9

I took my SR9 to have a gunsmith, (best in town) to have a HIVIZ green sight put on it and after getting it back I noticed a scratch next to the sight on the slide. The SR9 has a SS slide and that part of the slide is dulled and I can notice it readily. But after shooting it with the new sight it improved my shooting ability so I left it at that. I love the gun and I figure it will get marred up later in its life. SS guns mare more easily I have assumed because a PPK/S in SS has a scratch also while I was holding a magazine up to it while in my hand. They could be buffed a bit but as long as they shoot well enough is what matters.
