Living in California and it's high prices suck. I just bought a Xd9 Tactical for $639 plus tax and dros fees. I couldn't find it cheaper even if i bought it from gunbroker.com. These next 10 days is going to be a really long wait.

I wouldn't care if it was 200 dollars I'd rather have a Glock. Then a H&K or a Sig then a 1911 , then a..... XDs are way down the list for me.

I think you should buy one, but not at $700. I bought my 2-tone barely "used" (I mean it was bought by a guy that buys the new stuff, barely if ever shoots it before trading it in) for $450 extra mag, box and all. Look for a deal or wait for a normal street price.

Just got one today for $519. Came with a nice case, holster, mag carrier, 2 mags, and even extra fiber optic stuff for the front sight. Not bad for the money.

I guess if all the Glocks are sold, you just have to settle for whatever you can get

I got mine at Academy last week for $549. Coming from a Glock guy, here's my quick review:
Pros - small, nearly pocketable in jeans (smaller than a G36), and shoots something bigger than 9mm. Comes with FO front sight. Potentially very accurate: With care, I can already hold my shots in group just as small as my Glocks, even with the grip adjustment for the smaller frame. Cons - comes in a case that's too large to be useful, with accessories that don't benefit me. (I won't be using a OWB holster for a gun that's tailor-made for concealment) Trigger reset is good, but not nearly as pronounced as a Glock. And the big one: Light strikes. Lots of them - about 30 or so through my first 250 rounds in several different brands: Rem, WWB, Blazer - with the exception being American Eagle. And FtRTBs. Quite a few. For now, I'm going to treat the Light Strikes as an ammo issue, as I'm sure quality SD ammo will be more reliable. I'll give it a good cleaning before going back to the range - perhaps the FtRTBs (which occurred more later than at first) will go away. Sorry, this went longer than I intended - hope it benefits someone. |

@barefoot ... Send it back to Springfield. That doesn't sound ammo related. Mine has never had a light strike with around 1300 rounds so far.

Quick update regarding my XDs: I took it to the range today after a routine cleaning, and shot 150 rounds without a single function issue (Rem, Blazer and AE). I was concentrating on my grip, getting used to the nuance differences compared to Glocks. I didn't shoot as accurately as before, but that's something I can work on.

I got one for $539 + tax.
I like the XD / M lineup, but have been somewhat disappointed in this lil guy. Easy to carry for sure, but thin frame/slide kinda chews me up compared to everything else I have. I wish, perhaps, I had gotten a SP101. Now come tomorrow morning, everything will have changed

To flgunguy, you have those guns and carry the XDM ? That the piece of crap compared to all the others. Just me but I don't believe you'd carry the XDM if you had all those others. But I guess it sounds good

Just in case you guys missed my post earlier, I ended up an XDs at another LGS for $549 and jumped on it right away. I've had the gun now for about a month now and I love it. Have about 750 rounds down the pipe and will be putting this little bulldog into the regular rotation soon.

XDs
This might sound crazy or coming out of left field but.....I was having a ton of light strikes and was getting dejected. A lot more info and this issue over on xdtalk
I ended up treating it with Frog Lube. Ever since then my last few range trips have been issue free. Action is smoother and feels slicker. I've also added a Talon grip. Now I don't know if Frog Lube was the answer but right now it seems to be. Same ammo as well |

Though I didn't use Frog, my XDs straightened out after a good cleaning, too. (Ballistol is my lube of choice.) I have heard several instances of XDs pistols that had minor (light strike) issues in the first few boxes of ammo, but did well after break-in.
