1911s in general, my Kimber UCDP in particular as it's my EDC. But I don't fondle it between posts, as it's generally in my holster, unless I'm in PJs, whereupon it's then next to me on the desk, table, vanity, or nightstand. If I move from room to room, it goes with me grabbed only by it's grip. Only time it's really "handled" is during a cleaning, besides the obvious range trips. It's put into it's holster in the morning and taken out at night with as little handling as possible in-between.

Although the 1911 is my favorite handgun, I have to say that the best handling gun I have experience with is the 4" S&W k-frame. It's just right in so many ways.

of all the guns i have owned or handled there are only 2 that feel like a natural extension of my hand. a colt (or replica) saa revolver. mine come in 4 3/4" and 3 1/2" models and they are the natural fitting and pointing revolvers made. the other is any 1911 semi auto in any length. these 2 handguns feel like a piece of me when i point them and as a result these are the guns i shoot the best.

Springfield Armory XDM 9mm. Most comfortable to shoot handgun I have ever fired.

K frame 357 mag, followed closely by Beretta M9 and Sig P226 (alloy frame.)

There are at least two types of handling. One is how does it instinctually feel in one hand and point for immediate emergency use. The second is more like fondling.

I like to sit in my livingroom and practice with snapcaps. This works well with all revolvers and da autos. I love the feel of all revolvers, single or double, I love them all.

Autos I like the feel of a 1911 with an arched mainspring housing, Walther PP and P38, and Beretta 84 BB.

I also like the Ruger 22 with the original "Lugeresque" gripframe.

Any Smith K-frame. My only one currently is a 10-5 built in 1966, with a pinned, four-inch tapered barrel. It's my head-of-the-bed gun; but yes, I have to fondle it now and then.

The nicest one I ever had was a 15-8 dated 1970 that I bought immaculate and unfired ten years ago. A first-rate smith gave it the finest trigger I've ever experienced on any handgun, at least equal to any Python I've handled.

I gave it to my son so he wouldn't have to wait till I croak. He and his three boys love shooting it. But I miss that beauty.

My SR1911 is such a pleasure to handle, shoot and even just look at. A pile of Snap Caps is always on hand...
