mosin problem

Made a trip to lgs.owner has a super nice model 91 mosin sitting in a corner. He told me
It has a bulged chamber as the brass splits when fired. He would take $100. For it. Can anything be done to save it or is it a wall hanger. Thank you.

It would need re-barreled. Problem is you can buy a 91/30 that works cheaper then you can re-barrel one.

Do not assume that it has a bulged chamber. Splitting brass can be caused by faults in the brass cases themselves. Have a gunsmith look at your gun/chamber.

Agreed. Just because they split doesn't mean it's bulged. Search for other threads. I have one that does it all the time and posted some pics the first time it happened. Lots of "no biggie" responses with plenty of pics of cases much worse than mine. If the split is not too far down the case I wouldn't worry about it.

I found a minty M44 Mosin Nagant at BIG5 ~ 10 years ago for $55.

The bore looked unfired, but later I found out there was a big rust hole in the bottom of the chamber.

Borrowing a reamer and setting back the barrel a thread was as much trouble as putting a whole new barrel on the thing.

My extractor relief cut vs the Russian's cut during WWII.

The stuff written on the barrel got shorter.

That's a ridiculous price....
AIM still sells them for $110- same as what this clown is asking for a wall hanger...
Currently out of stock, but they do get regular shipments. Sign up for email notification- and jump on it as soon as you get it because they don't last the day.
