RR is releasing a polymer 1911? I'm a little curious too!

Humm, next thing we will hear is that a metal framed Glock is coming to market in the near future. A plastic 1911 vs. a metal Glock, I wonder which would be the better seller? I'm not even sure which I'd want to own...

I read about them during and right after the 2012 Shot Show. I don't think RRA has actually put them into production yet. And, with all the demand for AR-15 style rifles, they may not get around to doing so for awhile.

Blasphemy aside, I'd love to get my hands on one, too. I've seen ads for them, oh, for maybe a year or so, but haven't seen one in person. I'm guessing that KyJim is right about AR demand pushing things off for a while.
Then again, NY is ripe for selling 1911s now.

You have any kind of link to an announcement? The only new 1911's from RIA I've heard about is the 10mm line and the .22 TCM, the 10mm being the one on my to get list. Haven't heard anything about a poly 1911.

There's an article in Guns and Ammo: Handguns about them.

Ah ha, that would explain my confusion.... Thanks for clearing that up. I knew I would mix up those two eventually.
Yet another 1911 I get to wait anxiously for! |

Rock River got out of the 1911 game years ago for a good reason. The margin on the guns they produced were not equal to the $$$$ to be made in the AR world. Even with recent events that has not changed.

Let's see if that's still true in a couple of months! Rock River 1911s were a top-notch player in the "production custom", $2000 market, so let's see if they can pass the plastic-frame savings to the customer, rather than putting it in their pockets like that Austrian guy.

I've got a couple of their old 1911's. Top notch guns. Equal to or better than my Wilson CQB.
If memory serves me right, RickB, don't you have 1 or 2 yourself? You could attest to their quality. |

I wish. I don't play in the "choose one item from column A, and one item from column B" 1911 market, but all the reports on RR's stuff from ten years ago indicates it was top-notch. The company was founded by former Les Baer guys, so they should know what they're doing.
