New Barnes bullet for .277

I know Barnes has had a Long Range TTSX (LRX) for a little bit now but they just released it for 270. It's a 129 grainer, BC is 460 something. Kind of interesting though because they have a 129 for 6.5...cant remember that bc..On the regular 130 TTSX it's about .380-.390s? Anyways, I love their bullets and its nice to see them give an option for a higher bc if you want it. Has anyone played with their LRX line? I use the TSX/TTSX but haven't messed with LRX

I don't use barnes bullets in a 270.

If you want high BC in a 270 look at the Hornady SST & Interbond 150 grn bullets.

The BC of these two bullets is .525.

The Interbond is a bonded bullet that holds together quite well, but its expensive. The SST is cheaper to shoot and has the same BC, shoots the same sight settings as the IB.

I use the SST for practice and targets and the IB for hunting. This last hunting season I killed an antelope at 586 measured yards. It turned the lungs into mush that looked like a pile of coffee grounds.

Its flat shooting and retains velocity pretty good.

Berger makes some high BC 270 bullets also, they shoot well but I haven't hunted with them in a 270 Win.

I loaded some .284 145 grain using IMR4831 for a 7mm Remington Mag last fall and had great results on paper. I had 6 groups of test loads and all gave acceptable hunting accuracy (1.5" @ 100 yards) and 2 groups gave MOA or better.

I load the 130 TTSX's for my .270 win, and it shoots them pretty nicely, haven't tried the LRX style yet, but everything I shove in my rifle it handles very nicely.

Kraigwy:

Not really looking for a high BC bullet I just meant that its nice to see Barnes get theirs up a little bit. They're bullets are so good on game ill take the lesser BC

And Nosler just released a AB long range and the 270 BC on that bullet is over .600, pretty dang high.

I wonder if that bullet is for use in the 6.8 Remington.

looks like a nice bullet. I might just have to buy some and try them out.

+1 for the Bergers. They shoot really well in my .270
