Thoughts on the Sig P250 or 2022

I started a poll awhile back for a Commemorative Sig for our Unit while we are deployed. I know the P226 or P229 is the obvious choice(which I am pushing for). But to make it easier for the guys who dont have alot of money to throw around the P250 or 2022 is the easier sell. Because they all have to be the same model and caliber. I like the idea of the P250's modular exchange kits. And I have read positive feedback for both. So thoughts?

SP2022

Pros:
Real hammer and DA/SA trigger with great crisp SA pull
"compact" but on the bigger side of compact
Comes with night sights
Replacable backstrap for different hand sizes

Cons:
Only 9mm and 40 SW
Comes only in one size

P250

Pros:
Comes in every single damn caliber Sigs can shoot
Comes in every size, from subcompact to full size
Night sights? Sure, Sig puts those on everything from keychains to socks

Cons:
Trigger sucks. If you want a DAO-ish plastic gun, get a Glock, or a Shield, or an XD--they get it better
Caliber X-change kits are hard to find, expensive, and despite their claim as a "one stop modular weapons platform for every caliber" it's usually cheaper to buy another P250

My advice? Get a SP2022... or get a used P229 (used P226s are hard to find since cops use the P229). The P229 destroys the plastic Sigs in terms of accuracy and quality... Or a full-size P250 in 45 ACP (it's the least offensive). But I don't think Sig got it right with the P250.

I vote for the P250 because of the exchange kits and the trigger is real smooth. If you like revolovers you will love the trigger but it is not hard to get used to It is long but is one of the safety features, alo the price is right.

the finish quality of the p250 is what drove me away. not an attribute you want for a commemorative gun.

Yeah im aiming for the 229, or ultimately a 1911. But have to consider the guys with less pay coming in

Both are good guns, but they are also what I'd term utility guns- great for shooting, not necessarily what one would use for an heirloom type thing.

The SP2022, with its SA/DA trigger, is more likely to be more popular among a variety of people. The P250 is a good gun (I have three, with three more Xchange kits), but it isn't for everybody... some people just refuse to get to know a long and light DAO trigger.

Either one would be a good choice, but I'm with those who think a P229 would be a better platform if the other guys can swing the cost.

My SP2022 in 40 cal is one of my favorite guns. No issues here.

The 2022 is a very under rated pistol; I highly recommend it. The early 250's seemed to have some issues, but I think they have been worked out. Not that the 250 is bad, but I think the 2022 is a better platform.

While the p250 is modular, the unit exchanges are damn near the price of another gun. It never really took off.
I bought one when they first came out at the tune of $600. It was my first pistol and firgured Sig was a quality pistol. It ran fine but my interest changed and took a bath on it when I sold it.

Not so much anymore. They're priced at under $300, which while is not insignificant, that's not just a barrel, but a slide with night sights, magazine, and grip frame.

The issue is that once you start having a few of the kits you really start wanting more fire control modules too (one just ain't quite enough).

I shot both at my LGS a few weeks ago just out of curiosity. Both are great guns IMO, but if I had to pick between the two, I would go with the 2022.

SP2022 is a sweet ride for the price. One of the smoothest shooting polymer guns Ive encountered.

Get the SP 2022 in 40S&W and get the P250 sub compact in 9mm

It will all depend on what the boss says. I'm holding out for the 229. but the 2022 in 250 seem to get good and bad reviews so either way it's another pistol for me,

For me the choice comes down to the trigger if you want a full-size P250 - DAO for the 250 or DA/SA for the 2022. They are both good guns for the money. Personally I don't buy full-size autos since anything I buy has to be CC-capable and although they are doable they are a little on the large size.

I have the sub-compact P250 in 9mm and have had zero issues with it. It's a great CCW for me. As was already said the trigger's real smooth, much better than the DA pull of any DA/SA pistol I've shot and when you practice it's always going to be the same so you get used to the one trigger pull real fast. Unless you have only shot SA pistols or DAO striker pistols it is a non-issue. I like the DAO trigger w/ no saftey - has all the positives of a good revolver w/ a lot more rounds.

I have an SP2022 in 9mm. Love it.

However, I'm not sure I feel "commemorative" about it.

There's a P250 2SUM that includes the full size and subcompact frames/slides, etc. You simply swap out the fire control. Pricier but certainly different.
