Interesting, language deliberately aimed at the wildly popular SKS rifle...

Is anybody watching all the state legislatures these bills are being introduced in and seeing what kind of REAL support they are getting?

Based on the underlined clause, that appears to include virtually every semiautomatic pistol on the market!

Same type of thing in Missouri yesterday. House Bill 545. I'm guessing this will get crushed pretty quick here, though.

The only blue area's in Ohio are urban counties surrounding the major cities. This is pretty typical in a lot of the country. The rest of the state is Red.

Another forum member 17GHK posted a link to an article for SB36 in Ohio.

Good Luck Rebel and we feel your pain.
I am lucky to have made an exodus from the NE years ago. I am fortunate to live in a state that has just passed several pro Second Amendment laws. I for one never thought casually discussing shooting sports would go political but that is the world we like in now. I can only hope Ohio's "Red" governor will do the right thing and exercise his veto power.

I would think that would include nearly any semi-auto rifle or handgun, and even some shotguns. Theoretically as long as the gun is magazine fed, the ability exists for it to accept a magazine that holds 10 or more rounds. Even something as mundane as a Remington 750, which is about as far from an EBR as you can get in the semi-auto rifle world, has commercially available 10 round magazines.

It seems to me that even if this were to get passed through, it would be struck down pretty quickly if challenged in court. The definitions in this bill are so broad and far reaching that it would ban nearly every semi auto firearm in common usage today, which would go against the precedence set by SCOTUS in their Heller ruling.

god help us all, i love ohio so much i got my "assault" guns in case i have to defend her from foreign invasion (its happened before) , or any of my other countrymen states in need,

OMG! Getting out my tinfoil hat here...the gun-grabbers could gleefully set up a magazine manufacturing plant to make an 11 round magazine for EVERY firearm so that they would ALL fall under the restriction.

DaleA, the gun grabbers won't need to build a magazine plant. The free market will just about guarantee that if someone can make a buck on 'em, they'll build 'em.

No reason to give Shirley Smith's proposal any recognition at all. It doesn't have a snow balls chance in hell of passing in Ohio. Republican controlled House: Check. Republican controlled Senate; Check. Republican Governor; Check.

This is the same legislative body that just relaxed a bunch of carry laws last year and the restaurant carry less than two years ago.

Just to be on the safe side, I'll write my reps anyway, but they already know how I feel since I write them frequently.
