P229

I have been looking for a P229 for awhile now and one just popped up on Armslist. It was purchased in 2006. What would be a good price for it in excellent condition?

Paid about 540 for mine "LNIB" (looked like it'd never been shot past the factory) w. 2 normal factory and 1 extended factory (+2 base plate) mags, that was before the craziness though so they may be more now.

I don't mind buying a new one, but if I can save a buck I'd like to. I was thinking $500 max, and then doing some upgrades. I really like the extreme g10 grips that look like they are either blue and black or black and grey. I can't tell from the picture. With the extra savings though, what kind of enhancements would you make to the gun?

1. SRT trigger
2. Storm Lake barrels in other calibers (the .40 and .357 versions can potentially work with .40, .357, and 9mm).
3. If you really want to spend some money, have it "melted" a la the SAS treatment.

If you can get a 229 in like new condtion for $500---jump on it. They're going for a lot more than that on gunbroker these days so you certainly won't lose any money.......
