How to buy 10mm Ammo

So I have finally decided on a new gun. I was going to get an EAA witness but decided it was a little out of my price range. I am not a huge fan of glocks but I have a friend that can get my a big discount on a Glock 20 so I am going to get that! I am excited and cant wait to receiver it. I am going to get a LWD stainless extended barrel on it.

Anyways, I am a little confused on what I read. From what I can tell not all 10mm is the 'hot stuff' Alot of it is dumbed down a little. Closer to .40 ballistics. Can anyone just recommend me a brand to buy thats a good powerful load. Does not need to be match grade or JHP just a ball round is fine.

Thanks!

This is some of the commercially loaded 10mm available. If you click on each item you can look for the technical specs. This will show you the bullet weight and the velocity and energy figures for the particular loads.

You can compare these to loads for the 40 S&W to get an idea of which are more powerful by this little bit of work.

I am a little embarrassed. I didnt even think about that. I was just looking on gunbroker for bulk ammo, and I was afraid to buy the dumb down stuff.

So if you are in Chelan WA, you have probably found places where you can shoot that 10mm at extended ranges. Hence wanting the real McCoy powerful ammo, I guess.

I bought the Glock 20 only a few weeks back, getting the SF version. It is the Short Frame, meaning the dimension from back to front of the grip. I recommend it to anybody who finds the regular Model 20 too big and blocky in the hand.

On the other hand, if you get mistaken for Sasquatch due to your massive powerful handshake, stick with the regular Model 20

The suggestion to investigate online is a good one. Doubletap and Buffalo Bore make powerful ammo. There are others also. Have fun searching. And you can still buy it from the internet, until some DA new gun law changes that.

Yeah, I can shoot as far as I can see up here

Thanks for the recommendation on the short frame. I am not sure. I haven't liked lock in the past. I don't have big hands but they have always felt a little skinny and small to me.

I wont have a chance to handle the gun before I buy it, so we will just hope for the best I guess.

Thanks for the ammo recommendations! Where are you at in this corner?

Double Tap is know to be weaker than claimed as are a few others.

Underwood tests show it to be consistent. I like HPR ammo for 10mm as well.

Another place is Georgia Arms.

You should really consider reloading for 10mm. The full house loads or just buying factory ammo in general is pretty pricey.

A basic reloading setup would only cost you about the cost of 5 boxes of ammo.

Keepin, I live near SeaTac airport. And when I travel to Spokane to visit family, I usually swing through Wenatchee to stop at One Shot gunshop. I'll bet you have done some shopping there!

So I see that there is a Rocky's House of Guns just 3 blocks from One Shot. What do you think of that place?
