What do I have?

My father in law inherited this pistol recently... He asked me if I knew how to take it apart for cleaning , and bring it to firing condition... It was loaded with some pretty crusty rounds from the 60s. Anyone got any info, or know the history of this gun? Maybe the field strip procedure? Ser # is 338XX. Any info would be appreciated

Your pistol is a Hungarian FEG Model 1937. Designed by Frommer, manufactured by Femaru. It should be in caliber 7.5 MM or 9MMk ( 32ACP or 380ACP ). It has been years since I handled one so no help on dis-assembly, however by knowing what it is you can try your google fu. Hope that helps.

With that marking, it should be .380 ACP, but the .380 and .32 ACP barrels will interchange.

To disassemble, remove the magazine. Then pull the slide back so the slide stop engages the rear of the two notches. Then turn the barrel (I think clockwise) and release the slide, easing it off to the front. Further disassembly is not recommended unless necessary for repair.

Most likely .380 Hungarian issue.
If a .32 under Nazi management it would have a thumb safety.

The magazine is stamped "p mod 37" I read on the web that those marked mags are. 32ACP. IT HAD. 380 auto rounds in the mag.... How can i tell what exactly my magazine, and barrel are chambered for?

Well........... If you read Jim K's post above - The forward LH side of the SLIDE indicates it's chambered for the 9mmK (Kurtz), aka: .380ACP.

Yeah... just not sure if naybe it had been converted to .32 or possble wrong magazine?

Do you have any ammunition at all? If the barrel is .32 ACP, a .30 caliber bullet won't enter the muzzle; if it is .380 ACP, a .30 bullet will easily go in with lots of room to spare. NOTE I SAID BULLET. A bullet is the front part of a cartridge, the projectile.

The mag was loaded with. 380 Im wonderin if the mag could b for. 32... I havnt tried to chamber a round yet. Im still cleaning. But the markings on the mag lead me to believe it may be for a 32acp. Could 380s possibly fit if thats the case?

update: My barrel is definately chambered for .380 And the fact that the mag was loaded with .380 leads me to believe the gun was fired with its current setup. My question is could this mag be made for .32 acp but still be able to accept and feed .380? The only reason im questioning any of this is because of the "p mod 37" markings on the mag, which indicate .32 acp

Yes, there are pistol magazines that will handle both the 32 and 380 with out changing any thing.
