Last Hunt/First Duck

Just finished cleaning this guy, which unless my work schedule changes, will be the first/last/only duck I got this year.

Not bad! It took me a couple years before I bagged my first woody.

Yeah, it was wierd, I went hunting this year more than have the two or three years combined, and only got the one duck.

Funny how that works out.

my big sister said she would cook him up tonight to serve along with dinner

I know your pain.

The city built a small pond just off the square for retirees and kids to fish in. There are always a plethora of geese there.

A woody drake....They are the toughest little duck to clean....The skin really sticks to the breast....Woodies are awesome to hunt..They love the creeks and timber....

Yeah, my sister raised holy heck for all the feathers and such in the tub.

You know, Keg, I've hunted in Arkansas over flooded timber and rice paddies, but there is just something special about having to hack my way into a swamp along side a small creek to get that one shot at one flight of ducks.
More rewarding sort of.
