In the latest issue of Guns and Weapons For Law Enforcement, Massad Ayoob, a tactics instructor & sworn LE officer, stated that LE officers should use neck chains or chest level badges. A large PD researched carry methods & found that badges on neck chains had the fewest "blue on blue" incidents in training.
I've used a badge-ID holder since 2002 or so. I purchased a black nylon badge holder from www.Galls.com . I'm glad I used it. I also work armed with uniform shirts that say; SECURITY on the back. That way, LE or any first responders can clearly see who I am in a critical incident.
You may say; "hey, so what" but you don't know when some people see guns & wig out.

The guard with the AR-15 is probably the LEAST deadly thing in the Denny's restaurant.

I haven't been to one in a long while (no reason, just haven't) but I was a big fan when I was younger and many a 'Grand Slam' breakfast passed my lips.

Denny's I think should strive for more 'toleration' because now that 'they' are done with 'Big Tobacco', and once 'they' are done with 'Big Guns' (I like that phrase), 'THEY' are headed to take on 'Big Fat' and if you know what a 'Grand Slam' breakfast at Denny's consisited of you better believe 'they' are going to make life miserable for Denny's restaurants.

So in addition to the President who is protected by men with AR-15s, Congress which is protected by men with AR-15s, I can add Denny's to list of places protected by people with AR-15s.

Meanwhile my Mother's school is assigned a fat deputy who locks her duty belt in her patrol car to not scare the kids.

That's a laugh! It reminds me of when Casey Anthony was released from the Orange County Jail( www.BestJail.com ) , the embedded Orlando Sentinel reporter stated the corrections officer escort had a "AK-45".

The county jail officers used Glock 21 .45acp sidearms & HK UMP .45acp sub-machine guns.

Im curious to know too if the security guard had just a AR-15 5.56mm or did he have a sidearm too?
Armed guards at fast food places or casual dining restaurants are not uncommon. There have been "take down" armed robberies of places like Denny's & Perkins in my metro area.

While I was in Panama(Panama City) in the 1990s, I saw several restaurants & stores with guards armed with 12ga shotguns & rifles.

Well, it wasn't a Denny's, but a year or two ago my wife and I were having lunch in Fort Davis, TX at a little Mexican restaurant, and she and I were just about the only folks in the place that weren't wearing a sidearm. Must've been LE discount day. I did feel a bit underdressed....
