Ruger 580 mini-14 stock query

Hello:

I tried to swap out my tactical stock for a standard stock on my 580-series Ruger mini-14 today and it didn't want to fit - almost did but not quite. Do the new mini-14s require a special stock to fit (i.e. any pre-2005 stock won't do)??

Does anyone know of a good source for Ruger factory mini-14 stocks (plastic)?
Everyone seems to be out at present.

Ruger changed the dimensions between the Series 580 and 581.
