A bolt stainless stock stain?
Hey guys I just got around to removing a lot of scratches on my A bolt. It's a newer stainless hunter an was wondering what stain matches the best. I was figuring walnut standard would be the best

Too bad you don't live close to me. I have a large number of various types of stains. Also bad is that you don't have a piece of wood that you can test stains on. That's the best way to find the right stain. But...hmmm...you could pull the barrel and action and test the stain on the inside of the barrel channel. Try walnut, and try hickory. I'm assuming that you'll use an oil based stain, but if you have a water based stain (and if you haven't used water based stain before), when it dries it looks ugly and flat. Wipe it with mineral spirits once the water based stain is dry and that's how it'll look under vanish.
