Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel HP Bullets

Question: I have a FS M&P 9mm 4.25" barrel. My husband just brought home some Speer Gold Dot 9mm Luger +P 124 GR. GDHP Short Barrel Hollow Point bullets. Can I use them with this barrel? I'm thinking that this is not a short barrel and I don't think he noticed this when he bought them.

Yes, should work well.

Yes you should have no issues as long as it feeds properly .

They'll run fine in your pistol, although I'd suggest getting regular 124 gr. +P Gold Dot ammo for it.

Here's why -- Months ago I bought 125 rds. of Short Barrel to try in my HK P2000 SK. It had been extremely accurate with regular Gold Dot, Golden Saber, HST and all range ammo I put through it.

Went to the range with two friends and tried the short barrel Speer and I was very disappointed. We are all experienced shooters and our groups were twice the size with short barrel ammo.

At 25 yds. after 125 rds of short barrel all of use shot 8" groups instead of our standard 3-4" groups with this small HK.

We switched back to standard Gold Dot and got good results.

Could be that the HK just doesn't like this ammo, I don't know.

But it's a top notch handgun that shoots ever other ammo dead on.

I'll continue to use regular Gold Dot or HST in it and I'll never use short barrel Gold Dot again.
