Peter, it's the only real hobby I have that I spend money on. Other than a few shotguns here and there, I live a pretty frugal life. I recently retired and am having a good time, most of the time, well some of the time...

How many you've sold isn't as important as how many you still have left.
Kind of like life's years.

Slugo,

I find myself addicted to going to gun auctions...one every two or three months. I buy both handguns and long guns, with the attitude that for every three I buy I will keep one and sell two to pay for the one I keep.

So far during the past year that has worked well for me, without doing a lot of damage to my retirement income (and losing my wife's cooperation).

Shotguns, even higher priced shotguns, seem to go 'cheaper' at the auctions and yet on the on-line web-sales sites they earn good return. Handguns pricing at auctions really varies a lot from event to event...but the hardest group of all are the Center-fire Rifles. The tend to go high at auction, especially those with the "cool" look (AR-AK etc) which makes reselling a low profit exercise.

You are correct about the satisfaction you get from using your retirement time and money for something you really enjoy. !! Keep it going !

I know you've made some good buys too ....and as long as you're happy ..it doesn't matter...

( but if you ever, imply to my wife - let alone say it out loud ...that guns you don't shoot all the time ...should be sold...I'll hunt you down like a dirty dog in the dark ! )....

Slugo - you're flipping and changing shotguns more than my wife does her hair color!...........................

Wish I lived in an area where you seem to be able to find such nice ones at real deals and flip them.......you should be close to that K-20 pretty soon

Geez guys, most people show pictures of guns they have; not pics of ones they got rid of. I get the feeling I'm viewing snapshots of ex-wives-and that they're being bragged about!

Are you saying it's like publishing sex tapes of your ex girlfriend on the internet (not that I have ever seen or would look at one)?
