(2) One of my Favorites.......

Though I'm partial to the Three-Screw Rugers, this New Model Super Blackhawk has won my heart. It just shoots where I look seemingly. With over 15,000 rounds fired through it, still looks O.K. and shoots fine. Bolivian Rosewood grips by Lett, Millett rear sight, case colored by Doug Turnbull, Blackhawk hammer:

One of my pets. Especially good long range with 240 gr. Nosler JHP Bullets.

That sure is a looker. I wouldn't kick either out of bed for eating crackers.

I don't have any SA revolvers, but I'm in the hunt. I was thinking of getting the Ruger Vaquero, but I heard they weren't as strong as the Blackhawk.

As for me, I've never questioned the strength of any American made revovler, and few foreign.

Any quality Colt, Ruger, Smith & Wesson or Dan Wesson will digest thousands of rounds of any sensible handloads or factory loads you may care to put through it. Never blown up a gun yet. I've had case heads blow off, cases split and nasty things happen in general, but nothing that I didn't half way expect, and nothing has let go.

Buy what you want. Or build it.

As to Vaquero vs. Blackhawk/Super Blackhawk, the Vaquero is a close-up fun-to-shoot type of gun, while the Blackhawk/Super Blackhawk is for precision and long range field type of shooting.

Cowboy Action shooting? Vaquero.

Hunting? Super Blackhawk/Blackhawk.

+1 to what Bob said. I have a 357 New Vaquero and have shot SA for years. I'm not into CAS but I do love it for plinking and I love shooting it.

If i was going to hunt - there would be a Blackhawk in my holster.

But then, I have six Rugers and am somewhat prejudice . .
