Scope Diameter Question - 50mm vs 56mm

Looking at some nightforce scopes. I'm torn between a 50mm and a 56mm. Would the 56mm be too high on the rifle?

Edit - I am interested in putting it on a Savage 110BA, which has an adjustable cheek weld.

Yes, and most of them are also only found on 30mm tubes, whereas the 50mm was low enough for the 1" tube.

You'll probably need some way to elevate your cheek - either an adjustable comb, stock pack, something. It can be done if you want the 56. Every Nightforce has a 30mm tube.

In that case, no, it's not too high. Take some measurements and make sure you get high enough rings so the bell clears the top rail/chassis thing, then go for it.

A 56mm objective has 25% more area than a 50mm. A lot of brightness for 3mm higher mount.
