suppressed Ruger 10/22?

Well I've recently decided to do a couple modifications to my old Ruger. First off, how old do I have to be to apply for a tax stamp (i'm only 18). Secondly is there any company that can't thread the barrel? And last what is a good brand of suppressor and price. Please understand that I am pretty new to firearms and a stranger to any NFA laws. Thank you.

At 18 you will have to make the silencer your self or buy from an individual in your state of residence you can not buy from a dealer until you are 21

Any 22lr silencer that can be taken apart for cleaning will work well. Prices are $100 to $400 or so. Here is a link to manufacturers; http://www.silencertests.com/links.htm . The forum at SilencerTalk is a good place to learn more.

Check out http://www.gunbroker.com/Silencers-S...rearms/BI.aspx for silencers on auction in your state. To buy from a person in your state, meet with the buyer and fill out the ATF form 4, get it signed by your local sheriff then send it in along with form 5330.20 two fingerprint cards two mugshots and a check for $200.

Making your own is easy if you know how to operate a lathe.

Any gunsmith can easily thread your barrel (10/22?) with 1/2-28 threads.

If you go to YouTube Randy Bragge has a very complete video on how to do the whole process. Start there.

Silincertalk.com is the greatest source for suppressors on the web.

And this is very true. http://www.silencertalk.com

Here is my video on making silencers.

A picture of one of my screw on 22lr cans.

A Ruger MKii

And a drawing.

My cans rarely turn out like I draw, but the drawing is just a guide so I know if things will work out. My first 22lr can used K baffles as shown in the drawing, but they can be very hard to remove when fouled unless they are shot wet and taken apart soon after using. Conical baffles with spacers come out much easier even when shot dry. That is why I sued them in my last two 22lr cans.
