POA Sport vs. Field
I have read that if you're using a field gun for clays, your POA should cover the bird instead of being under it. Anyone have experience to confirm or refute this? Thanks.

MOST, (not all), field guns shoot flat, that is a 50-50 pattern above/below POA. Most (not all) target guns are designed to "float" the bird a little above the bead as they typically are set up to shoot 60-40, 70-30, even as high as 90-10.
The best way to see if that is true with YOUR gun is to hit the pattern board with you shooting your ammo. |

My friend, 1-oz, makes a good point -- the pattern board is your friend!
There's one clue about how a gun may shoot: Is the rib tapered (vertically)? It it's noticeably taller in the rear, then it's probably going to be a floater. |

Jim, My daugher and I were down at Laguna Beach this morning watching the surf. She thought she saw a whale. I suppose that was why your mention of swimsuit season reminded me of harpoon guns.
I know. With my gut I shouldn't talk, but its fun to pick on sensitive big guys.
