Sweet Spot

Five shot group shot yesterday with a Remington 700 VS 22-250. Nosler 40 grain BT over 36.5 grains TAC (one below published max). Note that a half grain to either side was OK (<1") but not great. Chrono would not read, but should be 3,900 - 4,000 based on Nosler and my previous data with this rifle and bullet. Best group I ever shot with anything. Still working some heavier bullets, but I think I will sight in with this and go to work.

Yeah, I'd say that group would do. Ain't it funny how sometimes another half-grain of powder makes all the difference?

I shoot the 40 Nosler in 22-250 for close in, 100 to 200 yards. Beyond that the group really opens up. I never had much luck past 300 yards with light bullets.

Nice shooting!

I load the Nosler 35gr with W748 for my uncle's Rem700 in 22-250... 4,435fps (measured), laser flat, MPBR around 330yards with 2" high max.

Shoots 1/2 MOA at 100, kills chucks every time at 300+, never shot for groups out there.

Does a barrel give up some life when you send rounds downrange at a chrono'd speed of over 4,400 FPS? (well..at an accelerated rate, anyway?)
