s&w shield 9mm to 40cal. conversion

Does anyone know if you can convert a 9mm M&P shield to 40 s&w by switching out the barrel and magazine?

It will work the other way but not the way you're describing.

To my knowledge, all M&P40s work with just a barrel and mag swap. I can verify this on my M&P Pro 40. You can pick up factory M&P barrels at brownells...

The shield is NOT a single stack. It's a single+ They sneak another round in this way, and that's why it's a bit thicker than some other guns in that size.
