1911 Carrying Sights what to pick?
I've got a custom 1911 that I've been working on and I've hit a wall on what to pick for the sights. It currently has some bigger than usual sights but I'm not sold on keeping them if I start carrying this regularly. I've thought about night sights, fiber, adding a 14 k gold dot to the front, and Novak. Your thoughts?

Sights are a personal preference.
Myself on a carry gun I prefer small sights, as I know that most likely in a self defense situation I will not even need the sights. If I have time for an aimed shot and need sights I can do just fine with the small ones and that's with 63 year old eyes. Keep in mind the larger the sights the more your target is obscured. You might want to take a look at Chip McCormick's (the magazine guy) melted sights.

1911a1 .45acp night sights, carry sights...
I like the night sights & Novak type carry sights but I've seen a few other good brands. The new Trijicon HD night sights look good. The Warren, 10-8 Performance & XS 24-07 sights are impressive too.
The night sights should be steel & snag free. Prices may vary too but the extra cost will be worth it. ClydeFrog |
