winchester 1897 magazine tube??
I recently bought a model 1897 to be a fun gun. This particular one is a takedown model. It is supposed to hold 5 shells but will only allow 2 in the tube like maybe there is a plug in there. If anyone can give me some pointers on how to to get the cap off to service the spring and remove the plug I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks Evan |

pull the mag pin out of its hole [compress the spring on side of pin to allow its removal]....remove the two small screws that hold the end cap in the end of the tube [carefull as the spring will push the cap out when screws are removed and send it flying]....remove plug and rescrew end cap back in.....replace the pin by compressing the side mounted spring as you are reinserting it...
