I've been loading .270 Winchester for quite a while. After initial load experimentation I settled on 130 g. Nosler Partitions with H4831 in my Remington 700. The load was chronographed at 3130 fps out of my 22" barrel. Its accurate (less than 1" at 100 yards) with no signs of pressure (no flattened or cratered primers, no hard extraction, no primer pockets loosening, etc). In the past two years I have made two changes. I went to H4831 SC (a little more compact, reduces load density) and went to Remington large rifle Magnum primers. Accuracy got better (about 3/4 " groups) and speed cracked 3200 fps from my 22" barrel. Anyone else experimenting with magnum primers in their 25/06, 270 or 30/06?

Hi guys, I'm shooter22 and new to you fine site. I have reloaded with 4831sc for a couple years and I think it is very temp. tolorent. It is a slow buring powder and would ignite more effeciently with the mag primer. I hope this helps. I shoot in all kinds of temps, really cold days and then hot a few days later.

Colorado, no not in the calibers you mentioned, but I have a really fine load for the 6.5x55 using H4831SC and mag primers. sundog
