It's an interesting shotgun, but Keltec seems to be having severe production issues.

If the RFB is any indication, it will be years before they are available, many years until they are widely available, and until that happens, laughably expensive due to scarcity and price gougers.

Even though the online auctions are fake, they still got into what, the $4000 range? That will buy a pile of Rem 870's and a small hill of ammo.

That was what was SUPPOSEDLY serial number "1" - some folks place a premium on things like that

California Legal?

Quote:
It's dual 7 round tube mags keep it Kalifornistan legal
Better consider this:

Quote:
there is some debate on it's legality due to it's ammo capacity.
The debate is, is the fixed tubular magazine's capacity comprised of two seperate feeding tubes (7+7+1) or is the two feeding tubes considered one unit (14+1). If it's two seperate feeding tubes, then it's CA legal. If it's one unit, then it can't be sold to non-exempt persons in CA due to it having a large capacity magazine.
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/a.../t-477810.html

My understanding is that in the past Cali has looked at the capacity of the magazine plus one in the chamber; the capacity of the weapon. The capacity of the KSG is more than 10, which is the max under California law.

They have to start making them before you start worrying whether you can get one in California

I, too, am interested in the KSG but how long before it's reliable, affordable and *available*?
'Till then, there's another bullpup shotgun design based on the 870 (that should be Kali-legal) so I'm going this route for now: http://www.bullpupunlimited.com/
Reports from users at the Bullpup Shoot have been very positive.

You can call Keltec and get updates on the KSG and the PMR 30.

I own a Mossberg 930SPX and I'll buy one of these after the first of the production reviews hit the web. Very nice design. I would have preferred this to be a Mossberg or Remington but as long as it doesn't have a quality problem, it will be added to my armory.

I've seen one PMR 30 in store, and passed it by, even though it fit into the budget of my shopping at the time. Just felt phony, if that makes any sense.

As to the KSG, I'd love to see one before making judgment. I've not had good luck with either Kel-Tec I've owned, and like previously mentioned, didn't like the feel of the PMR, but the KSG definitely has usefullness written all over it, with it's twin tubes.

That said, there as been previous attempts at this design, none good. I'll try and find some links, but IIRC, one came from Turkey, and I completely love my one Turkish weapon, SAR K2-45, which has excellent fit an finish, and has been extremely reliable. I need to find those links, as what I've read stated the twin tubes weren't reliable in feeding/switching.

*edit* found it, NeoStead 2000 (NS2000). From South Africa, not Turkey, my bad. Wiki link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neostead .

Still looking for the reliability articles..........

Went into my local deaer to inquire about one, and he told me forget it. NYS police have already banned it, my dealer says only way it will be legal in NY is if it has permanent block in the tubes to limit it at 10 rounds! Not likely to happen, does look interesting though...

I would like to get one, but it's not too high on the "buy" list. If Kel-Tec doesn't get production up (without sacrificing QA/QC), prices will continue to remain above the 1K mark and I just can't justify that much for this shotgun. If it gets close to MSRP I will consider it much more seriously...until then, the Saiga and Mossberg 930 will fill my shotgun shooting attention.

Keltec isn't doing themselves any favors lately. They haven't been able to get Sub-2000's on shelves for 6 months, which is why you see them on Gunbroker for $500, and a buddy told me that Buds has over 2500 people who've clicked the "email me when they arrive" button.

And I call BS on calling Keltec for any info. The only thing I could get out of them was that they only distribute guns through wholesalers, and they have no idea when a particular batch of weapons will leave a factory, or what dealers will get them, or how many there'll be.

Just about the only thing you can be sure of with Keltec is that you can buy a P32 in about 15 different colors at any local pawnshop.

I'm only hating a little because I'd really like a 9mm Sub2k w/Glock mags, and for them to make an actual SA/DA pistol in a real caliber.

I'd think "Cheaper Than Dirt" would be one of the first to have them, they sell this junk.
