name and appraise this gun
This is a gun that my parents brought back from a trip to Germany in 82'. The gun was purchased in the Black Forest area in Germany. The lock has been replaced with a flint lock but I believe it was a match lock previously. Any info would be appreciated.

It looks to be a Jezail, mid-eastern tribal guns that were in use up to the early 1900's. If you google " jezial " you should come up with a wealth of information, more than I want to type. BTW, I don't think it was ever a match lock. Best way to get a value is to check some of the auction sites, yours has been repaired a few times so the value will not be high.

Nope never a match lock. Value is as a conversation piece, not much more.
