Check Mate ?
l bought a 357 RCBS mold off the net awhile back. Seller sent me some gas checks along. They are unmarked as to maker. Anyone know how to tell the diff
between LYMAN/HORNADY gas checks ?? thanks 282 |

Look closely at the rims .
Lymans are a squared corner flared ,where as Hornadys are flared but have a v rim that grabs the base better. My Hornadys are newer than my Lymans ,the Lymans may be the same with new stock. I`m talkin Lyman metal cornered box here.

I have not purchased any Lyman gas checks in the last few years because they are more expensive than Hornady. However the last Lyman's I bought were also of the crimp-on verity, and were indistinguishable from Hornady's, leading me to believe that they were made by the same manufacturer. Maybe someone has the inside info about this...Are both Hornady and Lyman gas checks produced by one (the same) manufacturer?
