Completed my SOFT RECOIL Mossberg 500
I took my new Mossberg 500 Road Blocker, Electro Sight 4 Dot Reticle, compact green lazer, and a KickLite Recoil Reduction Stock. I Shot a bunch of 00 3" Mag shells and found that the gun absorbs all the recoil. Nothing on my shoulder nor muzzel rise. (No violent back blast either.)
This was a fun project. Recoiless Mossberg 500 ![]()

Super COOL! Where did you get that muzzel brake? Did you fire slugs out of the gun? I need to cut down the recoile on my 500 when shooting slugs.

A Mossberg Road Blocker comes with it. No slugs yet. Next time I will try some after I pick some up. Myself, I just have lots of defensive rounds.

Wait a second! Is that a little stuffed animal I see in the corner of those pictures? How can you post a picture of a tricked out tactical shotgun and have a cuddly toy in frame! Sheesh!
![]() But anyway, glad you like the gun. I also tried to have a low-recoil Mossberg 500 a number of years back. Mine had a Knoxx Compstock which has a traditional stock contour, since I actually planned to use it for bird hunting. I'm not real crazy about the look of the muzzle break, but I imagine it helps with muzzle jump and recoil (by virtue of its weight if nothing else). Can you tell me what the benefit of that forend strap is? Last edited by idek; August 4, 2011 at 08:22 AM. |

![]() Little do many know, that "device" on the muzzle is really A "redirecting/defection and unapproved requisitioning device" created by mossberg to level the playin' field 'cuz badguys were complainin' about all the people that recently began realizing that the shotgun is a great man stopper HD/SD weapon... Dog toys ...
and The muzzle brake is alloy like the reciever, so it is not heavy. There is a titanium muzzle brake on one on my 50BMG shorty rifle. NO recoil? The weight of that gun equals the forces generated by 3" 00 buck?
I'm not buying that - hold it in one hand and fire it - there should be ZERO movement, but somehow I believe there will be or better yet, just set it on a table and pull the trigger with a string - the gun shouldn't move at all |

OOL, Naw... the feller is implying that he has 100% mitigated the "felt" recoil...
I assure ya'll I am a FAITHFUL DEVOTED Mossberg guy... But I must admit that it was real hard for me to forgive them for building guns strictly to market to those who have little working knowledge of the weapons systems they seek or the application of said firearms... But even I can understand what Barnum meant in one of his most famous quotes... Brent

I SAID "found that the gun absorbs all the recoil. Nothing on my shoulder nor muzzel rise."
It weighs in at 9 lbs. $690 project. I SAID "This was a fun project." Kinda like putting together my many AKs and AR's. With this one done,I will toss it on the pile and go on to my next project gun.......? |

Perhaps it is a mistaken statement made, but I doubt a 9# gun is heavy enough to defy physics But for grins and giggles - if you like it for what it is - have fun with it! |

In 1977 I was a young Officer working on the design and testing team of a XM204 105 SOFT RECOIL howitzer that does move however reduced recoil.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...round/m204.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duee1V0aiJc Sorry if I misrepresented your ideals of recoiless, Hotdog and Oneounce. I will change it the Mossberg to Soft recoil. Last edited by Master Blaster 2; August 4, 2011 at 12:07 PM. |

Now, you take your 9# behemoth and feed it some nice light 7/8oz target loads, and you'll REALLY see what soft recoil is all about...... Have fun with the gun |

Nice project, thanks for posting.
I have a 9.5 lb overly accessorized 870 that doesn't kick either. Back in the day, I added stuff until it didn't kick enough to notice. A good experiment for you is to acquire another barrel sans that diverter gadget and run both to see how much less muzzle rise and kick are observed. |

How do you like the Kicklite stock? I've been looking at Knoxx stocks (cuz I don't like the recoil of my 18" Win 1300 12ga) but have been hearing negative things about them.

In my research and reviewing of you tubes I decided on Kicklite. I noticed the Knox made it tricky to operate the forgrip for some people. I also liked the look of Kicklite better and it has worked great for me. I do have that Road Blocker muzzle brake that reduces recoil and rise.
I have never experianced a Knox stock. The Knox has the grip spring loaded and the stock. The Kicklite only has the stock has the spring. |
