.308 Loads

I’m getting a new rifle (.308) built and I have started to gather all the components for reloading. I have 175gr Sierra MKBT bullets. The powder is IMR 4064. Primers are CCI BR-2. I purchased 500 casings marked PMJ 06. I found 95 LC 05-06-07 in the mix of the PMJ’s, so I’ll start with them. The dies are RCBS.

If you have recipes for the IMR 4064, the 175gr and the BR-2 primers, grains and COL, please send them to me.

Go to the Hodgdon Reloading Data center for your load data.

COL won't matter until you measure your rifle. You can either buy a comparator, or you can measure your rifle the way garage hobbyists measure theirs. Either way works fine. Hodgdon lists the COL for their data at 2.800 and that's a fine place to start.

I read yer post on the rifle and what you are trying to accomplish. While I'm not going to tell you that IMR4064 and the 175 bullets are not going to work, you'll find that using the 168's and a load of VV N135 right at 2700'ps is going to work extremely good out of your rifle. Not trying to talk you out of or into anything, just this combo works in most upper class rifles in 308. Dial in final accuracy with OAL. Here's the pdf for the data:
