Best 9

Browning H.P - simply the best 9 M/M ever built if the not the best auto loader ever built.

Smith M-39 the must have pistol, in 1974, for a young hot dog cop.

The HK P7 is one of the best thought out and useful pistols in this world. All of the pistols listed are fine but the P7 is beyond fine. A truly great pistol!

I like the 92 based guns best, Beretta or Taurus.

Great gun, but never fell in love with the BHP.

CZ's and Sigs are nice too.

Then there's the plastic stuff.

Since I have not shot every 9mm ever made I'll list my opinion on a few I have. Those I've shot that I don't feel make the cut, I won't list.

BEST 9MMs

Wide open range of 9mm. but honestly nothing is proven, all the answers are based on each person's favorite. How about taking a list of best sold and used 9mm over a period of perhaps 50 years or more?

1. Beretta 92: Very accurate and reliable, both my 92FS and my issue M-9

2. Browning Hi-power: Most issued service pistol in the world (but thats starting to change). At one time used by 1/2 the armies in NATO.

3. Walter P-1 / P-38: Resonably accure and reliable. At one time armed the other 1/2 of NATO.

4. Glock 17: Light, accure, and reliable. Police favorite, especially in Europe.

5. CZ-75/P-226/M&P: Can't decide on 5th place. Those 3 tied.

No 226 in my list. I favor the 92 above it. Out of all the pedestrian models only the 92, highpower and G17 makes the list. Then get into the X5's, 210's and Sphinx's which are out of most people's price range.

I've never seen a thread with more agreement than this one. The patterns are obvious.

The Walther P88 may well be the best, so it's so rare and expensive as to be impractical. And I haven't shot one, so I can only go on the word of others.

But I know firsthand the P7 series is legendary for good reason and it's attainable. Same for the Hi Power, although the P7s are more concealable. The Beretta must also be given credit as it aced super tough military trials to be selected by the US military (although I'd still prefer to see them with a .45 considering they're limited to FMJ ammo). CZ-75 are right up there with the best, same for SIG and Glock (although I don't really like plastic guns.....).

Very close Top 10 for 9mm.
