Anyone have any experience with this? Does it make it easier to clean the barrell?

I've got one. I generally scrub out the barrel to remove most residue and then let the Outers do the rest of the work. I think it's better in that it'll avoid running a brush or rod through the barrel. Lest we forget, unless a bore guide is used, enthusiastic scrubbing with the wrong equipment can cause more harm than good (stay away from stainless steel brushes and steel sectionalized rods).

This was covered in depth quite a while ago at another place (Tuco's Forums Workbench). There was a very good how to on making your own and saving a substantial sum of money. If you go there and post your question about the Foul Out and how to make your own the very friendly people there will help you out.
