my bro in law has a friend looking to sale a thompson submachine gun replica, he says its made by either liberty or freedom arms. Cant find any company named liberty but im aware of freedom. Anybody have one of these or any info on them? Decent gun? is it worth $500 in good condition?

Freedom arms didnt make thompsons. They made a copy of a 1911.

Auto-Ordnance is the only maker of the 1927 semi-auto gun.

Try Volunteer arms commando models.

They are not bad quality once you smooth the burrs out of em. They are not good quality either. Don't expect a true Thompson and they use the old GI grease gun mags.

I almost bought one, but decided on a CZ PO1 instead at the time.

They do work, they work well and I shot the snot out of one when my friend bought the same one I was looking at. I think its what prompted me to buy the PO1 now that I think about it.

Either way its a good deal for $300 at the time and he sold it for quite a bit over what he paid for it when we were done with it 10k rounds later.

The furniture is all 1927 Thompson though minus forward grip.
