Herbert Schmidt 22lr revolver

Help. My friend gave me this old Herbert Schmidt 22lr revolver made in germany. It's double action, looks like a very cheap firearm, with rust. I would be afraid to shoot it.But I'am curious to know something about it. Has a 6" barrel, holds 8 shots, small frame, plastic grips with HS on them. On bottom of grip is stamped Madison Import Corp. s/n 75118. Thanks.
