I voted thumbs up. I have never had any kind of failure with mine. It pulls mostly nightstand duty since I ccw smaller guns but I would have no problem if I was told this could be my only weapon. I've shot guns with much worse double action pulls and after sending mine in at no cost it feels very much like a double action revolver. I like to think of it as a funny looking 16 shot revolver.

****** me off so bad, I went and sold all of my plastic guns, except my Walther P-22. I went back with all steel auto-loaders and bought several revolvers as well. Smith makes a great revolver, but I have had several of the semi's, and didn't like one of them. :barf:

I took my S&W Sigma 40VE to the range today and it shot like a champ.

Since I took this picture I added the $100 Houge grips and I really like the feel

Frank at S&W really knows how to smooth out those triggers .

I only have personaly experince with 2 sigma pistols. Both where in 9mm.

Both times the gun left a negative impression on me.

I would discribe it as a "Jam-O-Matic" , and both triggers left somthing to be desired also. Your experince may be diffrent but I won't buy one.

Father Time - I've now shot 300 to 400 rounds through my Sigma w/o one jam - sorry yours didn't work for you.

Define "fix." The last time I heard about the free trigger job from S&W, I asked if S&W smoothed the heavy pull or if they lightened it. I heard they only smoothed it out...still heavy.

Come on, the gun is popular because its inexpensive and most of the time has the $50 rebate or two free mag deal going on. SW always seems to be extending this deal or bringing it back.

People feel like they are getting a deal. And perhaps for the $ they are.

Add $100 to the price, take away the freebies and we will see if the gun retains its popularity.

Some gunstores around me mark Sigmas at the $425 -$475 price point. Trust me these Sigma's don't appear to be so wildly popular as they just sit and sit.

$300 is the price point for the Sigma---any more than that and there are better deals out there.

But its a heck of a gun for $300.

I shot a buddies first gen Sigma 9mm ~ 5 years ago and was unimpressed. Recently I had a chance to shoot a .40 VE model and was pleasantly surprised at the trigger. I shoot my revolvers probably 50% more than my pistols so, the sigma felt right at home for me. For the price, I'm thinking of picking one up!

I love my Sigma for the way it shoots and handles. I bought it because it was cheap, but the more I shoot it, the more I like it. I would not trade it for a more expensive gun.
