Try a lever rifle like the 9422 or the Marlin 39.

Both tube fed, fast and accurate.

Remmington 550-1 or Win 62A if you like a pump.

I'm a big fan of the Remington 597s - I'm up to 3 of them and they're cheaper than a 10/22, more accurate "out of the box" and they balance well because they're a bit heavier. Marlin also makes some good .22s and very accurate IMO, but I never liked the feel and balance of them. The 597 is also usually supplied with a real open sight instead of the cheap BB gun sights that seem to be on most new .22s these days. Could be a factor if your scope takes a hike, I've actually kept one of mine unscoped and I've probably taken more squirrels with that one than the other two combined.

Browning auto or the short throw lever, both real nice but cost alittle more.

I have a marlin 60 and it works perfectly. Couldn't be happier with it. I too sometimes get the itch to replace it, but can't ever justify a purchase because it does everything I need a .22 to do.

That's true, I've had several. Always they liked CCI minimags the best.
