Absolutely right gearchecker.
As I've said, I've got numerous examples of both the 66 and 686. I've not busted a forcing cone yet on a K-frame. The K-frame 66 just handles and carries so much better....for me. One side note. I'm always amused when I read how the L-frame magnums "replaced" the allegedly "weak" K-frame magnums. A quick glance at the SCSW 3rd edition confirms that K-frame magnums were manufactured alongside the L-frames......for over twenty years !!! Regards 18DAI.

a good choice would be the S&W 66
Although a 357 mag, FBI , 38 special +P, loads are all you will need. |

S&W 684 4" My Choice
I would say the S&W 686 4" is one of the best revolvers out there. Love to shoot at the range and I like to be able to use both .38 specials and .357 MAG. If you could only have one - it would be the 686 for me - however I also have the S&W 642, Glock 19 and Beretta 92FS Inox.
By the way - check out Hogue wood finger conversion grips (CocoBolo) for the S&W 686. |
