Help with Remington 1187 butt plate screws

Can anyone tell me what type head the butt plate screws on a 1187 have? I thought they were a hex head but have tried every size allen wrench including the half sizes .

I don't know for sure but I'll throw out two guesses....

Metric or Torx?

Actually, now that I think about more, I believe that my 870 had straight edge screws in the butt plate, 11-87 might be the same.

The problem, as you so eloquently put it, is choice.
