Done a cost analysis on my shooting.
Talking to Moma today she said that we have to cut back on some things & one of them is possibly my shooting
![]() Cost of shooting Black powder. Pietta 58’ NMA either 8’ barrel or 5.5” barrel, These would be mid to hot loads. Shooting 35gr charge of FFFG Goex & .457 143gr. Ball 192 rounds. Lead = $2.00 for 4lb. Caps = $10.00 for 2 tins of 100. Powder = $15.00 for 1lb can. “This could yield 200 shots with 35gr. Charges” Bore Butter = $7.00 for a tube “this could yield 400-500 shots” $30.50 for 192 shots which translates to $.16 per shot… Shooting 30gr. Charge of FFFG Goex & .456 220gr. Bullet 200 rounds. Lead = $3.13 for 6.25lb. Caps = $10.00 for 2 tins of 100. Powder = $15.00 for 1lb can. “This could yield 200 shots with 35gr. Charges” Bore Butter = $7.00 for a tube “this could yield 400-500 shots” $31.63 for 200 shots which translates to $.17 per shot… Shooting 30gr by volume charge of Pyrodex P & .457 143gr. Ball 280 rounds. Lead = $3.00 for 6lb. Caps = $15.00 for 3 tins of 100. Powder = $17.00 for 1lb can. “This could yield 280 shots with 30gr. Charges” Bore Butter = $7.00 for a tube “this could yield 400-500 shots” $38.50 for 280 shots which translates to $.14 per shot… I'll get to figuring up what it cost me on my Bobcat with 777 in a moment but thought: Have any one else figured up their expence of shooting our toys, to me it's priceless but to Moma it's a $$$ thing & if any one has figured it up what have you come up with in the $$$ amount for your enjoyment. |

Drop the bore butter and make your own lube. Go to a tire shop and get stick on wheel weights for free.

I normally do make my own lube but last years Christmas was pretty good to me by me having a Gift of Bore Butter & some Hornady .457 Balls "Logan has a hard time buying me a christmas gift so he gets me something that he knows that I will use even though I cast & make my own" that's where I got the price from for that & thought to include it.
As far as Lead goes, I do get all I can grab of the Adhesive Wheel Weights from work for free but I also have a line with our supplier to get me all the others he's willing to box up for me for $.50 a pound, just thought to put a price on it.

Beggin' the gentlemens pardon...
Me thinks y'all going about this the wrong way. With all dew respect... Cutting down on shooting? Cost analysis on BP ammo? Me would make a cost analysis on Moma first...
