You would need the same size balls as a regular bullet. .44 Spcl. should be .430. Sizing dies are going to size brass to .430, anything bigger and you're going to have problems. You might get by flaring the case mouth and using .432 but they may not chamber.

Well i have been shooting 454 rb in my 45 colt the bore is 452
and they have shot just fine. so i do not buy 45 bullets no more
rb are much cheaper to buy, so i was looking to do the same
with the 44spl, all loads are with real bp.

Most modern 44-40's do have .429 bores. Your .44 spcl. should have a bore size of .430. This is generally not a problem. I have a Cimaron convertable with a .44 spcl. and a 44-40 cylinder and the bore in it is .430 but I use .429 bullets. Once you get over .002 oversize you may have seating and or chambering problems. Keep in mind some guns have tighter chambers than others. What works in your .45 may not work in your .44 spcl. Or then again it might work just fine. Dixie sells .430 balls. http://www.dixiegunworks.com/default...6cd5853dedbf49
