Need new Uberti Walker nipples for #10 caps

I posted this in THR too, but it's down for a day or two and I'd like to order nipples asap.
I have a new Uberti Walker and VTI says that the nipples are the same part number as the Dragoons. Problem is, #10 Remington caps fall right off the Walker and hold tight on my Uberti Dragoon. I even ordered spare Dragoon nipples and they are wrong, caps fall off.
I'd like to know a source for replacement nipples that hold #10 caps tight. I'm sure some of you have bought some for your Walkers or Dragoons and use #10 Rems too. Any links would be a huge help! Thanks

Thanks. I can get the six pack and save some money there. So I need the "Italian Colt Walker 1/4-28 " ? and these will work with #10 Remingtons? Can someone explain what the numbers mean for nipples? I just noticed 1/4-28 for Italian Walkers and 12-28 for Uberti/new Italian. Not sure which ones to get here.

Numbers are thread size and pitch. Call and tell them what you have. 888-333-3858 toll free. I think unless specified as 10's they take #11.

#10 Remington caps work perfectly on all the nipples I've bought from Thunder Ridge, have no fear.

The Treso Ampco nipples I have in both my Walker and Dragoon and they take 10's perfectly. Just call them up and tell them what you need and they will be more than happy to help out. Sometimes orders take a bit of time from them as they are a small mom and pop shop but I have always been happy dealing with them

I also use their TRM brand nipples in the rest of my Ubertis and Piettas and even in my 2nd Gen 1860 Colt Army. All take #10 Remingtons perfectly and without a hitch.

It's really nice having the same size nipples and caps for everything and especially when they fit snugly and you never again have to worry about pinching caps or having them fall off etc.

The nipples on my new Walker are odd, Rem #10's #11's and CCI #11's all fall right off! The Rems run big, so CCI #10's will work, but I have 1000 rem caps already!
I think any other nipple should work fine. I'll order some Treso's for #11 caps and the Rem 10's should work well.

Look closely,

You can see the Treso nipples on both my Dragoon and Walker here. Same size for both. If you are ordering them for one you might as well go and order for both. Just easier than paying shipping twice in my opinion. You'll like em!

You wouldn't happen to know which part number your Tresos are do you?
It looks like either 11-50-136 or 11-50-166 are the two choices at Thunder Ridge and Possible shop. Both of these are 12x28, but there must be some other difference too. I have about 1000 #10 rem caps, so I don't want to change out or switch all my nipples around.

Sure do!

Here you go...

Treso Nipple 11-50-13, 6 pack, Italian Colt Walker, 1/4 x 28

Same nipples for the Dragoon too.

Thanks! That saves me some trouble, because Thunder Ridge must have some information wrong. They have the same part number ( 11-50-136 ) for Uberti Walker/Dragoon nipples as Possible shop, but TR lists them as 1/4x28 when Possible shop shows 12x28. All other Uberti nipples are 12x28, so I think TR got that wrong.
That's what you have from TR, ( 11-50-136; 12x28 ) and if those #10 Rems fit good, that's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks!

I ordered the 11-50-136 Treso's 2 sets. Don at the Possible shop told me that these are for #11 caps and the stock Italians usually for smaller #10's that's why all my caps fall off! I even tried CCI #10's this morning and they fall off.
If Treso's are good for #11 CCI's then #10 Rem's should work great. They're longer and a bit smaller than CCI #11's.
It's a waste that they're putting nipples on these factory guns that are basically useless. I wish the importers ( taylor's, EMF, Cimarron...) had an option when buying, to add Tresos, or parts kits or other useful features/tools.

I agree, it would be nice for the Italian imports to come with replacements for American caps or for retailers to offer a parts kit like you said. I do worry about new guys coming into the hobby and being really offput by caps that just don't fit right.

First thing I do is replace stock nipples on everything I have purchased.

Trust me though, those Tresso's work great with Remington #10s. That's all I use on everything. I've purchased a bunch of the Thunder Ridge brand nipples too for everything else other than my Walker and Dragoon (since they take the longer nipples only the Tressos are available for them that i've found) and like I said, all my cap and ball revolvers run on Remington #10s now without a hitch! It does make a difference that's for sure.

I have two Walkers (2007 Uberti and 1997 ASM) and two Dragoons (1981 Uberti 2nd Model and Colt Signature 3rd Model). All 4 guns take nipples with 1/4x28 threads.

Treso makes at least three different size nipples with 1/4x28 threads: 11-50-01 (0.635" long), 11-50-11 (0.494" long) and 11-50-13 (0.538" long). The other difference between these three is the size of the wrench shoulder - the distance across the flats that the nipple wrench must fit in order to install/remove the nipples.
11-50-01: 0.215"
11-50-11: 0.175"
11-50-13: 0.215"
Finally, the diameter at the top of the nipple:
11-50-01: 0.160"
11-50-11: 0.151"
11-50-13: 0.160"

The OEM nipples in my 4 'horse pistols' are all different lengths:
Uberti Walker: 0.627"
ASM Walker: 0.640"
Uberti 2nd Dragoon: 0.610"
Colt 3rd Dragoon: 0.633"

The distance across the wrench flats:
Uberti Walker: 0.176"
ASM Walker: 0.182"
Uberti 2nd Dragoon: 0.174"
Colt 3rd Dragoon: 0.176"

All the above suggests to me that the correct Treso part number for the large frame Colt replica revolvers is 11-50-01; the 11-50-11 and 11-50-13 are both too short. However, the 11-50-01 and the 11-50-13 won't fit the Walker nipple wrench; both are too wide and the -01 is too long. I guess I'd conclude that Thunder Ridge's catalog is incorrect, at least based on the hardware I have at present.

Now, as to cap sizes, measured several each of the following this morning; the numbers are averages, the first is the size of the opening, the second is the height:
CCI #10: 0.160", 0.160"
CCI #11: 0.166", 0.162"
Remington #10: 0.167", 0.168"
Remington #11: 0.166", 0.145"
RSW #1075: 0.165", 0.154"

That data suggests that either CCI size should fit the Walker and Dragoon OEM nipples, while both the Remingtons sizes and the RSW are too large. I said suggests, because the taper of the nipple cone and the cap matter greatly. And I can't measure that with my workbench equipment.

So, let's put some caps on some nipples:
Uberti Walker OEM: CCI #10, yes, CCI#11, no, Remington #10, yes, Remington #11, no, RSW #1075, no (no means too loose).
ASM Walker OEM: CCI #10, no, CCI #11, no, Remington #10, no, Remington #11, no, RSW #1075, no (all were too loose, would have to be pinched to fit).
Uberti 2nd Dragoon OEM: CCI #10, yes, CCI #11, no, Remington #10, no, Remington #11, no, RSW #1075, no (no means too loose).
Colt 3rd Dragoon OEM: CCI #10, no (too tight), CCI #11, yes, Remington #10, no (too tight), Remington #11, yes, RSW #1075 no (too tight).
Treso 11-50-01: CCI #10, yes, CCI #11, no, Remington #10, no (almost, just a little loose), Remington #11, no, RSW #1075, no (almost, just a little loose).
Treso 11-50-11: CCI #10, no (too tight), CCI #11 no (almost, just a little loose), Remington #10, no (almost, just a little loose), Remington #11, no (almost, just a little loose), RSW #1075 yes.
Treso 11-50-13: CCI #10, no (too tight), CCI #11, yes, Remington #10, yes, Remington #11, yes, RSW #1075, no (too tight).

What does all this mean? I have too much time on my hands. Actually, it doesn't mean a great deal. Nipples and caps seem to vary considerably, so you really just have to try them out and see what they do. I don't think there is a simple answer for any given gun design, as the nipples they use one year may come from a different supplier another year. And as for nipples themselves, there just is no spec except for thread size. Notice that the suppliers do not specify the length, shape of the cone (including the opening at the top), distance across the flats or even recommended cap size, all of which matter. Finally, as for the caps, I can't discern any commonality with respect to designated size between manufacturers, so specifying a given cap size essentially means nothing without also specifying the manufacturer; a #10 from CCI is not a #10 from Remington, and who knows where RSW falls in.

Have a nice day.

The stock nipples on my New Walker don't even take CCI#10's. My Dragoon's stock nipples worked fine with Rem #10's and #11's.
Something muct be wrong with the info at Thunder Ridge, the part number 11-50-13 shows 11-50-136 in the shopping cart and that's what I ordered from Possible shop, only Possible shop says it's 12x28 and TR says 1/4x28. I think it would be 12x28 since it seems all Ubertis take this size and thread.
Phantom Captain said the 11-50-136 work for his Uberti's so Im sure they'll work well in mine. I'll post again when they come in so it's here for future reference for anyone buying new Uberti's!

Looking forward to seeing what you actually get from the Possible Shop.

I have two Treso 11-50-13's and they are definitely 1/4x28 threads. And they fit (thread wise) all four of my cylinders - both Ubertis, the ASM and the Colt. All Ubertis fo not take 12x28 threaded nipples - at least two of mine don't.

I checked Jedediah Starr's site and found Treso 11-50-13's were listed as 1/4x28.

I think you will get 1/4x28 threaded nipples and they will go in your cylinder just fine. If you have a nipple wrench that will fit them. And if they are not too short for the hammer to strike the cap.

I'm not so sure the problem is at Thunder Ridge; it may well be at the Possible Shop. It will be interesting ...

I don't have a Dragoon or even use Treso nipples(yet)but FWIW I have a Pietta 58 Remington that takes #11 caps and a Pietta 1860 Colt that takes #10.

Yeah, Uberti isn't consistent in what Nipples they give you. My friends 2005 Walker took Rem #10's and 11's perfectly.
I got the right part number and Don at Possible shop says they'll work great, so they must be 1/4x28 like Mykeal stated.
The Uberti Walker I'm selling has bigger nipples than the new one I bought to keep. It just figures...$370 for a Walker and I need to drop $30 on nipples just to use it!
Here's the Thunder Ridge shopping cart: 11-50-13 is "11-50-136" and TR says 1/4x28, Possible Shop says 12x28, same part number though;

USPS shipping will be calculated manually and added to the total cost of your order.

11-50-136 Treso Nipple 11-50-13, 6 pack, Italian Colt Walker, 1/4 x 28 $24.29 $24.29

Treso Nipples: - Italian Colt Walker 1/4-28 + $6.49
Grand Total: $30.69
