170mm .40 S & W single stack 1911 magazine

Does anyone know where I can get some 170mm 1911 single stack magazines for a .40? Also, how many rounds of .40 will a 170mm single stack hold?

That is going to be difficult. The most you can get in a readily available mag is 11. That starts you with 12 in the gun. You will be at a pretty big disadvantage. You will be better off shooting Single Stack or Lim 10.

I know some people who have had some luck getting 10-round .45 mags to work in .40s. Mec-Gar makes an 11-round .45 mag; I used to have one, and with a Pachmayr pad on it, it was 169mm long. I've seen some truly awful 11-round mags at gun shows, and hopefully they weren't Mec-Gar's current production. Maybe you could get 12 .40s in there?

I could get 11 rounds of .40 in the Ed Brown/Metalform .45 mags. They fed .40 flawlessly. Still you could only start Limited with 12 rounds in the gun.
