This from the Sacramento Bee. Thank God when it comes to firearms they still build them like they used to.
http://www.sacbee.com/news/calreport...y.cgi?N91.HTML Elderly man uses gun for first time since '48, kills intruder SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- After not using his gun for over 51 years, an 83-year-old man used it to shoot and kill an intruder in his San Francisco home Monday, according to the man and police. A.D. Parker said noises made by the intruder woke him up about 2 a.m. He said he grabbed his .38 Special from under a rug in his bedroom, walked to the door and fired once. He then hid in his room and called police. Michael Moore, 49, of San Francisco died while on the way to the hospital. Police say the shooting appears to have been self defense. Moore had a history of crime. Parker said he bought the gun in 1948 and fired it then. He said that, in the 1950s, his late wife fired it so she could learn to shoot. Other than that, Parker said, the gun had been under the rug and unused since for the past 51 years until Monday. ------------------ Gun Control: The proposition that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own panty hose, is more acceptable than allowing that same woman to defend herself with a firearm. |

Kudos to the Senior Citizen for helping to address one problem for society. All San Franciscans may sleep a bit safer now.
