I'd go with a 3X9. Here in Michigan you must wear blaze orange or blaze orange camo when deer hunting in firearm season.

dont go too cheap on the boots for the two dawgs. A good pair of boots are worth there weight in gold in adverse weather if you get caught out. The Army gave me all the camo I need since I retired...lol.

I'd go with either on the scope. I like variables, as my shots vary from very short, to very long. I always keep the scope on 3x, and make the majority of my shots on 3x. But I like to be able to dial it in for precise shots when the situations alow. Also, we are practicing Quality Deer Management where I hunt, and in our area, (per biologist) spikes w/out forks get shot. That variable comes in handy to make sure that spike is not a forky.

For clothes, screw the brand. I never buy a brand name. Buy what pattern fits your area, and what is appropriate for your climate. I like cheaper stuff I can put over warm clothes in the event it ever gets cool here. (Seldom)

I don't think you need to spend tons of money on the scope. BUT, get good mounts. DO NOT SKIMP ON MOUNTS.

Does any one really need an adjustable objective scope on a 270win for deer???
Adjustable objective lenses are more for the extreme range shooter... 350 yards and up... most hunters can live without it but it doesn't hurt to have it.

Cabellas sells a brand of very nice keep-you-warm-and-dry brand of hunting clothes.
MT050 Cheaper than Browning and every bit as good if not better...

As to camo?
These clothes are only available in camo...
Camo cannot hurt your chances and it may, in some conditions, give you a little edge...
