6.8 SPC questions

6.8 SPC, is it a good round for deer? In terms of effectiveness and range, is it equivalent to 30-30? Or 6.5x55? Something in that range?

Then, I don't see any 6.8 bullets for reloading. Is this bullet the same as 270 or 277? I think a 264 is the same as 6.5mm. 284 is 7mm.

Thanks

I got one of the answers on the Hodgdon site, 6.8 = .277.

I still don't know if this would be a good deer round. Any experience with it?

Thanks.

the 6.8 spc would be plenty powerful enough for deer. like you said 6.8=.277, you could use any .277 bullet for the 6.8spc. remington has a 115 grain hunting load for the 6.8spc. the 6.8spc would easily outshoot the 30-30 win.

Any draw backs to the 6.8 rem? I don't shoot much so cost of ammo is not that big of a deal for me. I like that it could double for target and small to medium game.

I plan to hunt whitetail this year with my 6.8 AR. My handloads send a 110 gr. Barnes TXS bullet out at 2680 fps (10 ft from muzzle). If you don't load your own, Remington, Hornady and Silver State Armory sells hunting loads fro the round.
