I keep readig about "DE-CAPPING"

What is this, and can we get a thread of commonly used reloading terms going. I just bought a .308 and will definantly start reloading for it soon.

DOCSpanky: "De-capping" means punching out the primer. Often performed simultaneously with re-sizing, it can also be done as a separate operation using a special "de-capping" die.

Also called depriming. It's punching out the spent primer, also known as a cap.

My Hornady manual (an older edition) has a pretty good glossary in the back. You might check out the latest edition to see if they still include it.

Try and find a copy of Dean Grennell's "The ABC's of Reloading". It's a great book, and will help immensely. It's not a recipe book, like the Hornady or Speer, but gives tips, hints and insights into the reloading process. Can't recommend it enough. My older Hornady guide, as described above, does have a good glossary.
