new reloader with primer question
im going to reload 45 lc and 38 special. do they take the same primer?? small pistol or large pistol? thanks denny

No. The 45 Colt uses large pistol and the 38 special uses small pistol.

No problem. If you chose carefully, you can use the same powder for both. Check the loading manuals for this. I've been relaoding both cals. for 25+ years and I like 2400 and Unique for both. I live in a rural area with limited availibility of componants, so I've not tried many other powders. Check around and see what others recommend.

Killer, the type and brand of primer is always listed in the load manual.

Winchester has got some 45 brass with small primmers. i think most pepole don't like them, could be a problem trying to stuff a large primmer into one of them. Would'nt be much of a problem the other way round. I loaded a few of them, i just keep an eye on them when primming. Probably not as bad as some of the amerc cases with off center primmer holes.
